Notes on the intermediate vessel:

In thermal solar systems, intermediate tanks or temperature layer tanks have the function of protecting the membrane expansion tank from overheating in the event of stagnation. According to VDI 6002, installation is recommended if the content of the pipes between the collector field and the expansion tank is less than 50% of the capacity of the correctly dimensioned expansion tank. The reference variable is the entire volume that evaporates when the system is at a standstill.


Stagnation coolers or intermediate vessels are not required in conjunction with Vitosol -FM and -TM collectors. The pressure of the solar system must be set according to the manufacturer's specifications.
